Easter in Pollensa, and the Davallament

The whole house for ten, the week the town walks down the Calvari in the dark

What is still free in Easter 2027

It comes from the house calendar, the same one Booking and VRBO work from. If it shows here, it really is free.

Until 7 November: mention the 'end-of-season offer' when you write to us and these dates come with a 5% discount.

This gap starts or ends outside Easter 2027. It is shown whole because that is how it can be booked: cutting it here would advertise a departure date nobody has decided.

The house is open from March until the first Saturday in November. The rest of the year it is closed.

The Davallament on Good Friday is the most striking thing that happens in Pollensa all year. At nightfall the town's lights go out and the figure is carried down the 365 Calvari steps by torchlight, in a silence you do not forget. The house is five minutes away.

Why April

  • The Tramuntana is green. It is the only time of year the range is not dry, and the best for walking: twenty degrees and flowers everywhere.
  • You can be outside all day without July's heat or February's rain.
  • Mid-season rates. Split ten ways, a very different proposition from August.

The house, for ten

Five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a full kitchen, a garden with a barbecue, and parking for four cars on the property — which at Easter, with the town full, is worth more than in any other month. The pool is private, though in April it is still cold: it is neither heated nor fenced.

What else is on that week

The processions run all week, not just on the Friday. The Sunday market falls on Palm Sunday and is particularly lively, and Formentor can be visited without the summer access restrictions.

Ask us about dates

Easter fills months ahead and falls on different dates each year. Write to us and we will tell you whether your dates are free, or have a look at the house first.

Frequently asked questions

  • What time is the Davallament, and do you need a ticket?

It is on Good Friday at nightfall, in the street and free: the town lights go out and the procession comes down the 365 Calvari steps. Go up early to get a spot, because it fills up.

  • Can you swim at Easter?

In April the sea is cold, and so is the pool: it is not heated. Easter here is for being outdoors, walking and eating out, not for the beach. For swimming, June onwards.

  • How far ahead should we book?

Easter is one of the first weeks to fill, and it falls on different dates each year. Write to us as soon as you have your dates: if they are free, we will hold them.
